Open your newly created scene for editing
After clicking the Edit button in the main Shapespark app window the Shapespark editor window will open.
β You can navigate through the scene using the mouse and the keyboard.
-
Configure the transparent materials
In the Materials tab set the Opacity of each transparent material to a value close to 0 (for example: for plain glass use opacity of 0.05). In particular, the opacity value should be low enough to allow the outside light to enter into the interior through the window.
β In order to change the Opacity of the materials, you need to first unlock the imported opacity value by clicking the π icon. (Clicking this icon will unlink this value from the 3D modeling program settings. Unliked values are not overwritten when a 3D model is updated.)
-
Preview the lights in the scene
Walk through the scene and enable the Bake Preview in the Bake tab to evaluate how the scene is illuminated.
-
Adjust the settings of the Sun light and the Sky
If the light from the outside is too weak or too strong adjust the settings of the Sun light and the Sky.
β The default Strength of the Sun light and the Sky should be good for the majority of models. However, if your model is too dark or too bright try doubling or halving the Strength respectively.
To adjust the settings of the Sun light, go to the Lights tab, select the Sun light from the list of lights and change its Strength and/or the Rotation value. (The Strength value controls the strength of the light, whereas the rotation value controls where in the sky the Sun is.)
To adjust the settings of the Sky go to the Lights tab and change the Strength value of the Sky.
-
Add artificial lights
Add artificial lights to illuminate rooms without direct access to outside light.
β Artificial lights need to be added to illuminate rooms without direct access to outside light, such as bathrooms or wardrobes. (If there are no lights in the room your scene will be dark after baking.)
To add artificial lights go to the Lights tab and click β Spot to place spotlights in your model.
Use the panel on the right to adjust the Strength of the light; use the same panel or the controls in the viewer window to adjust the Position and the Rotation of the lights.
β We recommend starting with the default Strength values of the lights, then preview the model and adjust the values if needed.
β You can also add lights in your 3D modeling program and upload the scene by choosing the Update an existing scene option.
